By accessing or using theNaru, you agree to these Terms. theNaru is operated by Naru LLC.
- Funeral directors sign in with Google.
- Family members sign in with a one-time link sent to their email.
- Memorials are verified before they can be shared publicly (see section 3).
We keep records needed to prevent fraud and abuse, and we may share them with law enforcement, as described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Prohibited Conduct: "The Zero-Tolerance Policy"
theNaru is a space for reverence and cultural tradition. We enforce a strict policy against fraudulent content:
- Fake Death Notices: Creating a memorial for a living person or providing false information regarding a passing is strictly prohibited.
- Fraudulent Solicitation: Using this platform to solicit funds under false pretenses is a violation of federal law.
- Legal Deterrent: Any individual found creating a false death notice or engaging in "grief trolling" will be permanently banned, and theNaru will proactively cooperate with law enforcement for prosecution under state and federal fraud and defamation statutes.
3. Memorial Verification
Before a memorial can be shared publicly, it is verified in one of these ways:
- by the funeral home that created it, once theNaru has verified that funeral home;
- by an endorsement from a church partner;
- by an identity check run by Stripe.
Memorials that are not verified are not visible to the public. A verified memorial may show a badge for the funeral home or church that verified it.
4. Flower Orders & Condolence Gifts
When flower ordering is available:
- Korean wreaths (근조화환) are paid through Stripe and delivered by partner florists. Sections 14 and 15 cover cancellations and refunds.
- Sympathy flowers are sold by Florist One, which charges your card and sends your order confirmation and receipt.
Condolence Gifts: Peer-to-peer condolence money sent via Venmo or Zelle is a direct transaction between the guest and the bereaved family. theNaru does not process, hold, or take commission on these transactions.
5. Platform Ownership Disclaimer
theNaru is a software technology platform. It does not own, operate, employ, or control any funeral home, funeral director, or funeral business. We may update these Terms. We post the new version on this page with a new date, and changes apply from that date. If you keep using theNaru after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply to you.
14. Cancellation Policy
You may cancel a Korean wreath (근조화환) order before delivery. A full refund is available within 2 hours of placing your order AND before the florist confirms it. Once either condition is no longer met — the 2-hour window has passed or the florist has confirmed — cancellations are refunded at 50%, because the florist has already begun preparing your arrangement.
Ribbon text (조사) cannot be edited after submitting your order. To change the ribbon text, please cancel your order and place a new one.
15. Refund Policy
Refunds are issued to your original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your card issuer.
theNaru absorbs the payment-processing fee on refunds — you will receive the stated refund amount in full (100% refund) or at 50% without any additional deduction. No separate refund processing fee is charged.
